The Canadian Vintners Association adds new experience to its staff this month, with Asha Hingorani coming on board as Director of Government and Public Affairs, effective November 3rd. With a background in federal politics, journalism and communications, as well as being a certified sommelier, Asha is a great addition to our team. A well-known wine columnist in Ottawa, she has written on extensively within the Hill Times and its sister publication the Embassy Times, on issues ranging from the impact of the low dollar on the industry and Canadian wine export markets, to start-up wineries in Canada.
Asha joins us from The Hill Times, where she was the editor of Parliament Now, an online publication that covers the workings of Parliament and regulatory policy. Prior to her work with the Hill Times, she worked for over 4 years on the Hill, for parliamentarians both in the House of Commons and in the Senate.
Dan Paszkowski, CVA President, said of the appointment: “Asha brings not only in-depth federal parliamentary knowledge to our organization, but is also a certified sommelier. She has a great understanding of the Canadian wine industry and the landscape in which it operates.”
Asha looks forward to meeting and representing the CVA membership in the years to come. She can be reached at asha@canadianvintners.com.
